Shawn Stern Computer Services Inc. is a technology service company. We provide hardware upon request as a convenience to our clients. Our experienced technicians use their knowledge and experience to find reliable technology equipment to minimize potential issues. Purchasing parts, equipment or services from Shawn Stern Computers Inc. means you have agreed to and will comply with the warranty terms below.

Warranty for New SSCS Computer Systems

All new computer systems built by Shawn Stern Computer Services Inc. come with a one-year limited warranty for defects. Should your product require servicing during this period, please contact Shawn Stern Computer Services Inc. at the first sign of any malfunction.

The hardware in new computer systems assembled by Shawn Stern Computer Services Inc. are covered under the manufacturer’s warranty for parts and components. This warranty will not be extended by any replacement of parts in the system. Labor for replacement of defective equipment on systems built by SSCS will be covered under warranty for 1 year from the purchase date. Services performed to replace any defective parts under the manufacturer’s warranty after 1 year will incur labor charges at our hourly rate, currently $100 per hour.

General Warranty for Parts and Service

New hardware purchased from Shawn Stern Computer Services Inc. come with the manufacturer’s warranty. Manufacturer’s warranties vary, please ask if in doubt and see exceptions listed below. Shawn Stern Computer Services Inc. can, at your request, help you with return and/or replacement of parts to the manufacturer, but labor and shipping charges will apply in most cases.

Labor provided by Shawn Stern Computer Services Inc. will be covered under warranty for 15 days, unless otherwise stated in writing. Exceptions are noted below and no other warranty is expressed or implied.  

We have a 1 hour minimum for on-site service calls. Remote support is billed for actual time, no minimums.

 

Warranty Exceptions or Exclusions

Your Warranty does not cover equipment damaged due to misuse, accidents, acts of God, or negligence.

Shawn Stern Computer Services Inc. does not warranty services provided by others. Modifications made by others (inside or outside your staff or household) may void the labor warranty if these modifications directly modify the services we have provided.

Shawn Stern Computer Services Inc. will not be responsible for loss of data due to a failure of equipment. It is our recommendation to backup your data on a regular schedule to protect your information. Please see our Services page if you are in need of a backup solution.

Labor is covered under warranty in the case of defective workmanship and/or the replacement of defective products within their warranty period only. This does not cover reloading or restoring of applications or data nor the time to troubleshoot problems. In the case of a hard drive failure where the hard drive is still covered under warranty, the hard drive warranty will cover the reloading of the operating system only.

Shawn Stern Computer Services Inc will not be held responsible for incompatibilities between products. It is the purchaser’s responsibility to ensure that new or existing software will be compatible with new components, software, operating systems, peripherals, applications and/or CRM’s (Customer Relationship Management software). Recommendations for compatible products can be made upon request, prior to work commencing, but are only as reliable as the information you provide to us concerning your existing and/or proposed system. If research is required, labor charges will apply.

Returns and Refunds Policy

All sales are final on special order items.

Shawn Stern Computer Services Inc. will accept returns of stock items in their original packaging, without damage or signs of damage, up to 30 days after the purchase for exchange or refund. Returns will not be accepted beyond 30 days past the purchase date.

We are unable to accept software once opened.

Payments

Payments are expected at the time of service unless other payment arrangements have been made with our Accounts Receivable Department prior to work being scheduled.

We accept all major credit and debit cards. Examples: Master Card, Visa, American Express and Discover Card.

Personalized Checks will be accepted in US Funds. We do not accept starter checks, unnumbered checks or non-personalized checks.

A fee of $100 will be charged for any payment returned for any reason. This includes a $50.00 NSF fee plus a $50.00 administrative fee to process these returned funds and re-bill.

If payment arrangements have been pre-approved, the customer agrees to make payments on time by the approved methods. The Customer further agrees that should the account fall into default status either the state’s legal maximum interest rate or 1.5% monthly (18%Annually) from date of invoice shall be assessed. In addition, customer agrees to pay the company all collection agency and attorney fees incurred in bringing the account current. Act of default accelerates payments to be due immediately, as credit is no longer extended.

Managed Services

Shawn Stern Computer Services Inc. agrees to provide the specified managed services for the duration of the term agreed upon. Requests for a refund or credits for any services provided in the past will not be approved due to non-use if the service was available for use during the specified time frame.

Shawn Stern Computer Services Inc. will not be responsible for loss of data due to misuse, accidents, software incompatibilities, modifications implemented by others, negligence and/or acts of God.

Cancellation of managed services requires written notice, 30 days prior to the desired end date.
